Focus Group Task

The focus group was a chance for me and my group partner to tell a group of about 8-10 people about our production. From this we were able to discuss and fix faults that may have been present in our presentation of our production. The focus group was effective as we members of our focus group were able to recognize mistakes that we never would've come across. Our idea was praised by many but also was criticised quite a bit. Some of the quotes that we received include

• What is different between your programme and Top Boy?
• Could you think of a much more effective beginning such as beginning it in a bar?
• Great idea, storyline is effective as it begins in-between a conversation.

• Good narrative. A lot going on so use flashbacks to show past moments.

All of this was effective as it moved us towards working harder on making our narrative the best possible. This includes taking the idea of beginning it in a bar and using flashbacks. Me and my partner thought heavily apon which steps we should take in our programme and we’ve come to a conclusion. Of course there are going to be minor adjustments during the filming process but our narrative and character list is going according to plan.

Target Audience:

Our production is aimed at young adults ranged from 17-25. This is because I believe that a large number will be most interested in this programme as it allows them to relate to it as well as people who've grown up with people with similar lives. The psychographic groups that our production is aimed at include the aspirers and the explorers. This is because the aspirers are known for being materialistic and care about their image and appearance. Also the explorers because they are known for exploring and finding new things such as brands and trends. The social class that we are aiming to attract are C2DE. This is because the content that we include in our production would not attract anyone of a high social status.

Our production ‘Reminiscence’ includes 2 male’s characters and a female character. The female character is the girlfriend of one of the males. This male works in WHSmith for a living and has recently caught up with one of his other friends who is the second main character. This other main character named ‘Nick’ used to be best friends with our other male character named ‘Donovan’. In high school they would work illegally for money and would do it on regular bases. Both wanted to pursue what they do and hopefully build their own empire. But as time got further they distant away because of Donovan’s girlfriend who didn't like what he was doing. The 2 minute opening will include short clips of Donovan agreeing to get back into the business in order to see more money than he is originally seeing. Our production will be broadcasted on BBC3. This is because this channel already broadcasts to a large audience of young adults and has built this up over the past few years.

This production is based around the genre of a thriller/ documentary.
