Research and Planning (PRINT)

1. Title Of Publication:  The title of the magazine is 'Doctor Who'. It is located to the top left of the cover as studies suggest that our eyes are built to read from left to right. BBC have decided to follow this and use it to make their magazine effective in quickly portraying what their magazine is about right away.

2. Slogan: The slogan of this magazine is 'The celebrating 50 years of adventures in space and time!'. The effect of using a punchy slogan automatically advertises how big of a deal Doctor Who is now due to it being broadcasted for 50 years. This slogan sums up the whole narrative of the whole magazine and what it's going to be all about.

3. Central Image: The central image is located in the middle just above the half way line.  This is effective as this is perfect in eye-line of the audience.  The characters are looking into the camera with tension and aggressiveness in there face suggesting tension. The characters are placed so that there is one main character who is presumably the doctor and 2 other semi-main characters.

4. Free offer: The magazine offers free gifts such as posters and anniversary art cards which you can download on the computer. These are effective in drawing a fair amount of customers towards the magazine.

5.Colour Scheme: The colour scheme is really down to earth and limited. It includes brown in different forms, white and red. The creator of the magazine chose to stick this colour scheme because it was effective in keeping the magazine modern and not busy.

6. Language: The language used in this magazine is quite formal. It is breaking the lines here and there of falling into being non-formal but most of the magazine sticks to being formal. The words are briefed down into short and snappy quotes that will be effective.

7. Bar Code, Date and Price: It is vital that  magazines have a bar code, price and date so that the customer knows how much the product and so that the store can scan the magazine.
